Raku has had a long tradition with the Cha No Yu or the tea ceremony of Japan. A peculiarity of the clay body is its insulative quality which allows forĀ  immediacy of expression. Whereas most other clay bodies have to be given time in their firing process the Raku can be instant in that it can be ready for use on the same day as the firing.
